Zanpa-Tei is an adorable cafe ran by a very sweet family. The nick name is home cafe because it was, in fact, ran out of that sweet family's home! When you show up, you ring the doorbell and someone promptly meets you at the door, and takes you down stairs to their open planned living space. Wade and I did not have reservations for the "prime seating" ( bar like seating, placed in front of the windows) so we were seated at the family table :) However, all seating is prime seating here. The west facing wall was made of windows that looked over the East China Sea. The cafe closes at 5pm but I can only imagine the incredible sunset view this family has every evening.
They had a variety of pasta lunches and bakery items. I won't lie, Wade and I came with every intention of having lunch but we forgot to hit up the ATM for Yen prior so we were left with simple dessert choices. ( no cash or card). The dessert of that day was a maple cake. It was so simple and Wade pointed out it tasted just like a pancake!!

The family is very warm and invites you to take a look around. You are able to walk outside to their deck with an in ground pool and Jacuzzi tub overlooking the sea. The greenery surrounding the house makes you feel like you have the whole cliff to yourself.

Wade and I on the deck of the Zanpa-Tei - Look at that view!
I wish that I could tell you to go check it out but unfortunately this cafe closed for good the following weekend. Zanpa tei was on my wish list for quite a while. It was only open on weekends for a few hours a day which made it hard to plan. I am sorry that Wade and I were unable to enjoy the actual lunch sets, but based on the cake I'm sure they were delicious.

We were lucky to be seated with Zanpa-tei's manger, Omiso! This kitty only has 2 legs but that doesn't stop him from getting around and enjoying the view.
